Glimmo Party Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 September 2026 ·Deutsche Fassung
1. The short version
Glimmo Party is a party board game for iPhone. The app has no servers of our own and no account with us. It contains no ads, no analytics or tracking tools, no third-party software and no in-app purchases.
Whatever the app remembers stays on your iPhone. We have no access to it. When you play online, with invited friends or through “Find a game” with players you don’t know, the game runs through Game Center, Apple’s gaming service, between the players’ devices. No server of ours is involved. There is no free-text chat.
Data only reaches us in three cases: when you write to us yourself (section 8), when you allow Apple to share crash reports with developers, or when you take part in a test through TestFlight (section 7).
Voluntary: You are under no legal or contractual obligation to provide data to us or to the app. You don’t have to enter a name in the app, and solo play needs no sign-in at all. Without signing in to Game Center you cannot play online, without the Photos permission the app cannot save the picture of a night to your library, and without an email address we cannot reply to you.
2. Controller
The controller responsible for data processing in connection with the Glimmo Party app is:
Simon Heinz
Sole proprietorship trading as “Heinz IT Systeme”
Hinter der Lieth 32A
22529 Hamburg
Germany
Phone: +49 152 38022440
Email: kontakt@heinz-itsysteme.de
Further details are in our legal notice (Impressum, in German). This policy covers the app. What happens when you visit this website is described in the website’s privacy policy (in German).
3. What the app stores on your iPhone
The app keeps the following in its protected storage area on your iPhone. None of it is sent to us.
- Settings, for example sound, music, vibration, game length, camera, your character and, if you enter one, your name.
- History and records: the results of the games you played (final standings and course of play by seat) and the best score for each minigame.
- Game state of a game in progress, so it can continue after an interruption, and which explanations you have already seen.
- Online play measurements: technical figures such as message round trip times, so the app can detect a poor connection. They are evaluated on the device only.
- Log of the last online game: a small text file in the app’s cache with the time, the app version and the technical course of the connection. It contains no names; players appear as seat numbers, and a connection without a seat at the table appears at most with the last six characters of its Game Center identifier. The app writes the same lines to the iOS system log on your device. The next online game replaces the file, it is excluded from device backups, and iOS may delete it at any time. The app never sends it on its own. It can only be passed on by someone who deliberately sends it: in the app’s settings, a long press (about 1.5 seconds) on the row showing the app version opens the iOS share sheet, and there you decide where the file goes, for example to us for troubleshooting. A second way: under Settings › Privacy › “Send feedback” you can attach the file to your own email to us with a switch – you write and send that email yourself.
Motion sensor: The app reads your iPhone’s motion sensor while you roll the die (shaking rolls it) and in some minigames in which you tilt the device. The values are processed on the device immediately, not stored and not transmitted. iOS does not require a permission for this.
Retention and deletion: Settings, history, records, game state and measurements remain until you delete them in the app’s settings (“Delete all data on this device”) or remove the app. The log of the last online game is replaced by the next online game; iOS may delete it at any time, and it disappears completely with the app. A backup of your iPhone via iCloud or a computer may include the other data; that happens between you and Apple, and we are not involved.
Legal basis: Storing this data on your device is strictly necessary for the app to work the way you want it to (Section 25(2) no. 2 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act, TDDDG). Where personal data is processed in the process, this is done to provide the app under Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
4. Playing online (Game Center)
Online play uses Apple’s Game Center exclusively. You can play solo without Game Center. There are two ways to play online: you invite friends, or you tap “Find a game” and play with people you don’t know.
- Sign-in: You sign in with your Apple Account within Apple’s systems. We never see your Apple Account or your password.
- What the app reads from Game Center: whether you are signed in, a pseudonymous player identifier that Apple assigns for this game, and your Game Center nickname. The app uses the identifier to assign seats at the table. It suggests your Game Center nickname in the optional name field; if you accept it, it stays on your device like any name entered there. The app does not read your avatar or your friends list.
- With friends: You invite friends through Apple’s invitation sheet. People you invite see your Game Center nickname in Apple’s invitation. When you accept an invitation, Game Center passes it to the app together with the inviting player’s nickname. The app does not show this name, does not pass it on and does not store it.
- “Find a game”: Game Center searches for up to a minute for other players who are searching at the same time and brings you to one table. Apple handles the search and the matching. The app does not read the names of the players found, only their player identifiers for the seating order. That someone came to your table through the search is remembered by the app only as an identifier and only while it is running. Stand-ins take any free seats; if nobody is found, you play against three stand-ins.
- What others at the table see: only the characters. The app shows others neither your Game Center nickname nor a name you enter in the app.
- Chat with stickers and fixed phrases only: There is no free-text chat. Stickers and fixed phrases from Quick Chat travel as numbers, and each device shows the matching phrase from its own catalogue.
- What travels between the devices at the table: game moves, minigame results, the chosen character, the player identifiers for the seating order, the Quick Chat numbers, technical connection data such as an identifier of the app version and round-trip times, and the report of whether someone tapped in time on a device (see stand-ins). In the drawing minigame “Light Doodle”, the strokes also travel while it is being played, and only at tables made by invitation. Light Doodle is never played at tables from “Find a game”.
- Stand-ins for inactive players: If someone does not react in time twice in a row, a stand-in plays for them until they tap again. For this, each device only reports to the host’s device how many time limits in a row ran out without a tap.
- Where the data goes: It goes through Game Center, either directly between the devices or via Apple’s servers, never via servers of ours. The app does not keep it beyond the game. Only the result is saved in the history on each participating device.
- No leaderboards, no achievements: The app has no leaderboards and awards no Game Center achievements.
Apple is itself responsible for the processing in Game Center, including the search for other players; for users in the EU this is Apple Distribution International Limited in Ireland. Apple’s Privacy Policy and its Game Center privacy information apply. In the iOS settings under Game Center you decide what others can see about you.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. You start an online game, with friends or through the search, and it could not work without this exchange.
5. Saving or sharing a picture of a game
At the end of a game you can share a picture of the night through the iOS share sheet. If you choose “Save Image” there, iOS asks once whether the app may add photos to your library. This does not let the app read your photos; it only adds that one picture. You can change this permission at any time in the iOS settings for Glimmo Party. If you share the picture with another app, you decide where it goes, and that app’s rules apply.
6. What the app does not do
- No tracking: The app does not track you across other companies’ apps and websites and therefore never asks for permission to do so.
- No ads and no advertising networks.
- No analytics: The app does not count launches or sessions. No analytics tool is built in.
- No purchases: This version has no in-app purchases.
- No free text: Apart from the optional name field, whose content stays on your device, the app has no text field. The chat only knows stickers and fixed phrases.
- No other permissions: no location, no contacts, no microphone, no camera, no reading of your photos.
- No selling or sharing of data, no profiling and no automated decision-making.
7. Crash reports and tests through Apple
Crash reports: If you have agreed in the iOS settings under “Privacy & Security” → “Analytics & Improvements” to share data with app developers, we receive crash reports and aggregated usage statistics through Apple. According to Apple, they do not identify you personally. We only use them to find and fix bugs (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in an app that works). You can withdraw this consent there at any time.
Pre-release tests (TestFlight): If you test a pre-release version through Apple’s TestFlight app, Apple shares crash reports, usage information and the feedback you send through TestFlight with us. This may be linked to your name and email address; if you were invited through a public link, you can withhold your email address. We only use this data for the test (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and delete it when the test has ended, at the latest after 12 months. See Apple’s TestFlight privacy information.
App Store: Apple handles downloads and updates of the app. We only receive aggregated figures from Apple, no information about you.
8. When you write to us
If you write to us, for example at kontakt@heinz-itsysteme.de, we process your email address, your name if you give it, the content of your message and any attachments such as a screenshot or the log of the last online game, in order to deal with your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries) or, where your request concerns the use of the app, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
Our mailboxes are operated by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany, and for a transitional period also by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. With Google, data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; such transfers are covered by the European Commission’s adequacy decision of 10 July 2023 (Art. 45 GDPR). We delete your message once your request has been dealt with and no statutory retention obligation applies, at the latest after 12 months.
9. Children and young people
The app itself does not send us any personal data. Consent under Art. 8 GDPR is therefore not required. Whether and with whom a child may play in Game Center is set by parents through Apple’s Screen Time and Family Sharing. If Screen Time restricts communication, the app hides Quick Chat.
10. Your rights
Within the limits of the law, you have the right to:
- access your stored data (Art. 15 GDPR)
- rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
- erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
- restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
Right to object: Where we process data on the basis of legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. An informal message to kontakt@heinz-itsysteme.de is enough.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example in the country where you live. The authority responsible for us is the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
We do not store anything about you from the app. As a rule, we therefore cannot identify you or provide information about app data. Data on your device is deleted by you (section 3). For data in Game Center or your Apple Account, please contact Apple.
11. Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that makes this policy inaccurate, we will update it. The version published here at the time of your use applies. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If this English version and the German version differ, the German version prevails.
